The Man Down system is very straightforward to use. It provides our staff with increased protection and confidence in their day to day roles. Feedback from staff using the system has been extremely positive.
One occasion in-particular proved how important the Man Down device is to a Lone Worker. One winter evening the device alerted us to a Security Officer who was working alone, who had slipped on ice and broke his ankle. Once the alert had been passed from device to our Control Centre, a call to the guard was immediately raised. A Response Officer was despatched and on site within 6 minutes, paramedics followed soon after. On this occasion the Man Down device proved successful & vital in support of a lone worker during an incident.
It also provided peace of mind & confidence to the same officer who eventually returned back to work, knowing that the Man Down device was effective whilst also supporting him as a lone worker.
We have two drivers and whichever one is in early puts on the device if they have loads to put on. If they come back late and there is nobody here they can put it on then too.
We wanted a system that gave peace of mind that should anything happen in that period of time that there would be somebody for them at the end of the phone and if they couldn’t get through to us in an emergency that they would be protected.
It provides peace of mind for everybody.
They have become much more confident in how the system (Man Down) works. It’s not mind-blowing how to use it - you don’t need a computing degree. You don’t want something to be a hassle to use when people just want to get on with their jobs and they won’t use something that’s too technical, but they feel safer knowing this system is there to protect them if anything should ever happen.
The customer service is excellent. They phone in regularly to see how we are getting on and if there’s anything they can do for us. I would definitely recommend it.

Porchlight is Kent’s leading homelessness charity working in local communities to address housing, social, economic and health issues that improve people’s wellbeing. Many of the charity’s workers are community based and will meet with clients in their own homes or out in the community, staff regularly lone work and the LONEALERT app is an important health and safety tool in ensuring that staff are safe and protected.
Porchlight uses the LONEALERT Smartphone App which means that staff can check in to a location which lets the head office know where they are and how long they will be there for, alerts will then be sent if they are unable to check out of a location. It also gives staff the ability to send a ‘hardware button’ panic alert without having first having to log in to an app on their phones which is a vital tool if they need help quickly.
Porchlight found LONEALERT when they were looking to replace an older outdated system, and the team at LONEALERT have been very helpful as the charity has grown over the past few years since they started using LONEALERT in February 2014.

In March 2015 with approximately 4,500 employees, Thames Water updated its Lone Working system with the LONEALERT system, provided by the Advanced IT Group.
Included in the services is a 24/7 response centre to escalate calls when a Lone Worker has timed out and also to provide round the clock technical support. Regular statistical reports are also provided on a weekly basis and as required. The LONEALERT system itself is very versatile with key features to help managers monitor usage and export various data.
It’s been a great experience working with Advanced IT. They provide excellent service and support, which gives us confidence in using the product.
Since go live we have had 853 users who have logged on to the system with a total of 128 630 timers.
