What is a lone worker session?
Lone worker sessions are default or custom timed sessions that can be set for fixed time durations based on job role. They exist to help lone workers notify their employers or colleagues that they are safe. Our lone worker sessions automatically identify the lone worker’s location so that they can be located in the event of an emergency. It’s a more advanced way of doing check-ins.
If a lone worker does not respond by cancelling their session within the set time, an SOS Alert is raised to ensure they can get the help they need.
Tired of false alarms?
There’s no need to worry. With more awareness that your session is about to expire, pre-alarm countdowns and clear push notifications, our Lone Worker App will help ensure you receive fewer false alerts from lone workers forgetting to cancel their timer.
And if your workers are using a Bluetooth Switch, in conjunction with the Lone Worker app, there’s now time to cancel if it is dropped accidentally, thanks to a customisable pre-alarm countdown.
In the unlikely event that a false alarm isn’t cancelled by your lone worker in these ways, your workers also have the option to leave a voice message for you (or a nominated colleague) or let the Alarm Receiving Centre know that an alarm has been set off in error, before it reaches you.

When an alert has been triggered, lone workers will also have access to the new two-way comms feature which provides a communication channel directly to the Alarm Receiving Centre. These features can help stop a lone worker from feeling isolated and invisible in an emergency, by helping them feel connected and improving wellbeing and reducing stress in the event of an emergency.
Additional peace of mind with the Bluetooth Switch.
The Bluetooth Switch is an accessory to the Lone Worker App, giving you and your lone workers added reassurance. It enables lone workers to directly raise an alarm to the ARC, bypassing the need to unlock their phone or open the app, AND provides fall detection.
Used in conjunction, our Lone Worker App and Bluetooth Switch are BS8484:2022 accredited.
How it works.
Small, lightweight and wearable, the Bluetooth Switch accessory connects with the Lone Worker App using Bluetooth technology. Lone workers can discreetly raise the alarm by pressing and holding the switch for at least 2 seconds or by pressing the button twice in quick succession. In the event of a fall, an alarm will be raised should the switch detect an impact.
Raising the alert seamlessly connects your lone workers’ smartphone to our Alarm Receiving Centre, without the need to touch their phone. The ARC can then actively assess the situation and engage in 2 way communication to reassure and help them in an emergency.
Who is it for?
The Bluetooth Switch is ideal for lone workers that work in areas of good phone signal and require one (or more) of the following:
- A discreet way to raise an alert if in danger
- Fall detection in the event of a slip, trip or fall
- The ability to raise an alarm without unlocking their phone
Examples of people who might use the Lone Worker app and Bluetooth Switch include hybrid workers, remote workers, office workers and lone workers at risk of physical abuse or violence such as healthcare workers.

How does the ARC contact me?
If you are using the Alarm Receiving Centre the app will attempt to open a two way audio channel, immediately after you raise an alert.
