Lone Worker Protection

Sandra, District Nurse

I love working for the community, but being a district nurse means not only do I have to work unsociable hours, I can also find myself in very vulnerable situations. Using the ID Card means my LONEALERT device is discreetly placed on the back of the badge, so I can easily press the alert if needed without raising any suspicion. Plus if my lanyard is pulled, the O.W.L automatically creates an alert which can be seen back at the surgery. To ensure it remains discreet, I’ve had my alarm customised so it doesn’t create a sound if the lanyard is pulled.

It‘s a reassuring device to have.

Martin, Engineer

Working as an engineer on an oil plant means I can find myself in a wide range of environments - working at height, in confined spaces and sometimes with challenging weather! Knowing that I can be easily located is priceless.

Due to my role, the device I use has to be hard-wearing and robust. With the Protector 3g, we use the indoor location beacons, so all I have to do is swipe the RF Tag and The O.W.L knows my exact location which automatically sets a timer. My device beeps if I have not checked-out within the allocated time I created. If I do not check-out it will not just continue to beep, The O.W.L will escalate the alerts and the relevant response will be sent to my exact location.

Gemma, Ecologist Surveyor

I work in an area with poor mobile signal, often for very long periods. One incident really sticks out for me. It was the beginning of December and I broke down in a very remote area, with no phone signal, meaning I couldn’t call for help. Thankfully, I had my lone worker device, so all I needed to do was press the panic button which immediately alerted my colleagues that I needed assistance. They arrived at my exact location before the situation became critical.

I don’t like to think how long it would have been before anyone would have found me or even realised I was missing.

Ben, Construction Worker

Last month I tripped on a patch of uneven concrete. This triggered the device which then started to emit powerful vibrations and a loud alarm which I could even hear through my ear protectors. Luckily, I wasn’t hurt, but this loud noise reminded me that I needed to confirm I was ok back at HQ before The O.W.L triggered the escalation response. It took a second to cancel the alarm.

Neil, Forklift Truck Driver

I work in a large warehouse and can often go for hours without seeing another colleague due to the size of the site.

The Man Down device works well for me as it has tilt activation which would detect if I fell and a one-button check in which is really simple to use and means I do not have to spend ages messing around with it. We can also pool our devices among the workforce with the added bolt-on. It does the job it is supposed to and means I can do mine. This little Man Down buddy means I’m not really working alone as The O.W.L updates my activities regularly. If an accident was to happen, help would be with me within minutes. It’s a reassuring device to have clipped to your belt!
